A young member of the Tulalip Tribes of Washington died on Friday. He was the fourth victim of a fatal shooting at a school near the reservation.

Andrew Fryberg was 15. He was critically injured on October 24 when another student, who was a relative and a tribal member, opened fire at the Marysville-Pilchuck High School.

"With the passing of Andrew Fryberg this evening the Tulalip Tribes offer up our prayers and condolences to his family. As they mourn his passing the Tulalip Tribes grieves along with them," a statement read. "The Tulalip Tribes and Marysville will be forever changed as a result of the senseless and tragic incident that took place on the morning of October 24th and know that healing will not happen overnight. We remain committed to taking this journey together, step by step, holding up the families most impacted and helping our communities heal."

The tribe had just welcomed a survivor back to the reservation only a day earlier. Nate Hatch, 14, came home on Thursday and was a relative of Andrew.

"You'll be watching over me and you'll always be in my heart nothing seems to make sense at this time the worst things always happen to the best people but now you're somewhere where no one can hurt you," Hatch said in a message to Andrew he posted on Twitter.

Earlier in the week, the tribe and the Marysville School District welcomed a delegations from the Red Lake Nation of Minnesota and Sandy Hook, Connecticut. The communities came together after suffering a shared tragedy.

“I hate meeting people like this, but we came because we want to offer our support. We know what they are going through,” John Oakgrove of the Little Thunderbirds Drum and Dance Troupe from Red Lake said at a school district board meeting on Monday, The Tulalip News reported.
