The Spokane Tribe and the Bureau of Indian Affairs say a fire on the reservation was caused by humans.

The Carpenter Road Fire has burned more than 65,000 acres since August 13. It has destroyed 42 structures, including 18 homes, and has caused more than $20 million in firefighting costs.

“We have determined it is arson caused, not lightning caused. We know the origin site," Tom Lavagnino, a spokesperson for the tribe, told KXLY.

The fire is nearly 100 percent contained.
