The Big Lagoon Rancheria broke ground on a fitness center in McKinleyville, California. The Club at Mill Creek will feature a juice bar, stationary bicycles, weightlifting equipment, locker rooms, steam rooms, a large multipurpose room and a swimming pool. The 29,000-square-foot facility will open in the fall of 2016, The Mad River Union reported. The Native American Bank is financing the $5.9 million project, the paper reported. Senior vice president Clay Colombe said the loan was the largest ever in California. The Club at Mill Creek will be located at 1579 Betty Court near the Mill Creek Cinema. The land is not in trust and the tribe secured a permit from Humboldt County for the project, The Mad River Union reported in November 2013. Get the Story:
