Navajo Nation basketball standout Desirae Gonzalez to play for Nevada

Desirae Gonzalez, a member of the Navajo Nation, will be playing basketball for the University of Nevada, Reno, after she graduates from high school.

As a junior at Kingman High School, the 5-11 Gonzalez led the entire of state of Arizona in scoring, averaging 29.7 points per game. She also managed 10.7 rebounds per game.

“We are elated to add Desirae to our Wolf Pack family,” coach Jane Albright said in a press release. “She is a big guard who is instant offense from anywhere on the court. Desirae is an outstanding student as well and excels in the classroom, on the court and as a leader in her school. She fits all of the values of our program and we’re excited for her to make an impact with us right away.”

Gonzalez signed with the Nevada team on Wednesday.
