A long-running contract dispute between the Coushatta Tribe and a consulting firm is over. The tribe reached a confidential settlement with Meyer and Associates on Tuesday, The Lake Charles American Press reported. The deal averted a trial in the case, which began more than a decade ago. The tribe at one point had been ordered to pay $16.6 million to the firm for allegedly breaking the contract but a state appeals court vacated the judgment in February 2016. The lawsuit returned to the trial court, where the settlement was reached, the paper reported. The tribe had hired Meyer to conduct a feasibility study of a power plant. Read More on the Story:
