Professional baseball team feels pressure to drop racist mascot

The Cleveland professional baseball team is once again facing pressure to get rid of its racist Chief Wahoo symbol.

According to The New York Times, the commissioner of Major League Baseball doesn't support the continued use of the logo. “We have specific steps in an identified process and are making progress,’’ a spokesperson for the organization told the paper.

Native activists have long been pushing the team to get rid of the logo, which depicts a Native person in a stereotypical fashion. The symbol has changed over the years in response to complaints but hasn't been eliminated altogether.

However, more recently, the team has been emphasizing a different "C" logo instead of using Chief Wahoo.
