School on Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara Nation hit with gun threat

A public school on the Fort Berthold Reservation in North Dakota was temporarily closed due to a gun threat, The Bismarck Tribune reported.

Classes at the Twin Buttes Elementary School were due to start on Wednesday. But after someone called in the threat on Monday, officials told students to stay home.

The school now plans to reopen on Friday, but in a "lockdown" status, the paper reported.

Meanwhile, police from the Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara Nation arrested someone in connection with the threat, the paper said.

Twin Buttes is a community located near the southern border of the reservation, in the tribe's South Segment.
