Southern Ute Tribe matches $1 million raised by KSUT radio station

One of the first radio stations in Indian Country is getting closer to moving into a new home and becoming more financially independent.

KSUT, a public radio station in Colorado, raised $1.05 million as part of a fundraising drive, The Durango Herald reported. The Southern Ute Tribe provided a match so now the station has a larger pot of money to invest.

“Thank you to all of you who have helped make our dream of moving into a new home on the Southern Ute Tribal campus a reality!" the station announced on its website

Overall, KSUT has raised about $4.6 million of its $5.3 million goal, The Herald reported. The money will be used to move the station a new home on the reservation, expand programming and establish an endowment fund.

KSUT produced both Four Corners Public Radio and Southern Ute Tribal Radio.
