Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation chooses chairman and council

The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation held an election on Sunday.

Rodney Butler was re-elected to a sixth term on the council and was then chosen as chairman by his fellow council members, according to news reports. He will be serving his fourth consecutive, three-year term as chair.

Daniel Menihan Jr. also won re-election to the council, according to the reports. He will be serving a second term in office.

Richard E. Sebastian won the third seat that was up for election on Sunday.

Others remaining on the tribal council are Vice Chair Crystal Whipple, Secretary Matthew Pearson and member Merrill “Marvin” Reels.

The tribe is based in southeastern Connecticut.
