Recap: Pueblo women host traditional feast for Deb Haaland

A group of Pueblo women, led by Ann Barudin of Kewa (Santo Domingo Pueblo), hosted a traditional feast for Deb Haaland in Washington, D.C., on January 2, 2019.

Haaland's family, friends and supporters enjoyed chile, tamales and other Pueblo fare ahead of her historic inauguration in the 116th Congress. Haaland, a citizen of the Pueblo of Laguna, will represent New Mexico's 1st Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. She is one of the first two Native women to serve in the chamber.
