Alaska Native village being excavated

FRIDAY, JUNE 28, 2002

Students in Alaska are helping archaeologists unearth an Athabaskan village that was abandoned earlier this century.

The Kenaitze Tribe teamed up with Kenai Peninsula College to conduct the dig at Kalifornsky village. More than 1,000 artifacts have been discovered that reveal some of the recent history of the site.

The tribe owns the artifacts that have been uncovered.
