Iowa eyes a share of tribal profits

Tribes that operate casinos in Iowa might be asked to share sharing their profits with the state.

Some state officials are considering the issue because the Meskwaki Tribe's compact expires in June 2003. They intend to revisit all provisions of the agreement.

Two other tribes -- the Winnebago and Omaha -- operate casinos on trust land in Iowa.
