N.Y. presses labor issue on tribe

FRIDAY, AUGUST 9, 2002

New York Gov. George Pataki (R) might finalize a gaming compact with the Seneca Nation as early as Monday, a source told The Albany Times-Union.

Pataki has been hung up over the right of organized labor. The tribe has hired a firm that will allow union workers at a casino project, according to the paper.

The compact allows the tribe to open up to three casinos.
