Alaska Natives want better pipeline study

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 21, 2002

Alaska Natives have joined environmental and public interest groups in seeking new studies on the trans-Alaska pipeline.

Alaska Natives say the Department of Interior's current studies are inadequate. They recently asked Secretary Gale Norton for more time to respond to a new document but their request was denied.

The Interior is asking for public comment to renew rights of way along the pipeline for another 30 years.
