Judge delays enrollment policy vote
MONDAY, NOVEMBER 4, 2002 A federal judge in Montana has extended a temporary restraining order against the Bureau of Indian Affairs that prohibits the Flathead Nation from holding a vote to change its enrollment policy. The tribe is considering opening its rolls to lineal descendants. But a group of tribal members opposes the initiative and sued to prevent a constitutional election. The Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes make up the Flathead Nation. Get the Story:
