Lawmaker wants to end tribal monopoly

An Oklahoma lawmaker who has challenged Indian policies plans to introduce a bill to end the tribal Class II gaming monopoly.

Rep. Wayne Pettigrew, a Republican from Edmond, said private companies should be allowed to offer the same types of games as tribes. He wants to authorize bingo, bingo-like games and pari-mutuel racing at racetracks.

Pettigrew opposes a lottery because he says tribes will be able to offer more lucrative Class III games if one is legalized. He has said he wants to introduce a blood quantum bill affecting Oklahoma tribes.
