Unsolved deaths and rapes prompt protest

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 25, 2002

Police treatment of homicides and rapes of Native Americans prompted a reported 125 to overtake a city council meeting in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

According to Bonnie Clairmont, a rape-crisis women's advocate, there have been 34 unsolved homicides and 271 unsolved rapes in the past 12 years. The latest incident was that of a Native woman whose death is being investigated.
