Store refused to sell to Native woman

WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 4, 2002

A grocery store in Winnipeg, Manitoba, has apologized to a Native woman after refusing to sell her hairspray.

But Roxy Monkman says that is not enough. She wants a public apology.

A new Manitoba law prohibits the sale of solvents to those who may abuse them. But one has to knowingly believe that a buyer will do that. The goal is also to stop sellers who deliberately sell solvents to abusers.
