MONDAY, DECEMBER 23, 2002 "Mac Turner and Time magazine shouldn't let the facts get in the way of any story, especially when emotions and cultural biases are a lot easier to manipulate. Just a few facts that both Mr. Turner and the magazine need to have in front of them: The Indian Gaming Regulatory Act has helped hundreds of tribal governments and their citizens lift themselves out of poverty, extend life expectancy, improve housing and basic health and human services – even though its main purpose was to regulate (and curtail) business development on Indian reservations."
