Wyo. panel advances tribal water bill
MONDAY, DECEMBER 23, 2002 The Wyoming Legislature's Select Committee on Tribal Relations approved a bill to allow tribes to receive state water grants. The bill goes to the full Legislature for consideration next month. But there is doubt because the state's outgoing attorney general has issued an opinion saying tribal governments can't receive state grant money since they are not formed under state law. Wyoming has two tribes: the Eastern Shoshone and Northern Arapaho tribes. Both reside on the Wind River Reservation. Get the Story:
