Canadian Inuit leader vists Alaska

MONDAY, JUNE 24, 2002

The first premier of Nunavut, the Inuit territory in Canada, visited Alaska this month to meet with Native leaders.

Paul Okalik was invited by the Alaska Federation of Natives and village leaders. During his trip, he noted similar problems, including education, health and infrastructure, facing his people and those in Alaska.

Okalik will be the keynote speaker at the AFN annual convention this fall.
