Navajo Nation primary halted over dispute
FRIDAY, JULY 12, 2002 The Navajo Nation's presidential primary has been suspended over a dispute involving the legitimacy of a candidate. Edward T. Begay, the speaker of the Navajo Nation council, has been deemed ineligible to run because he has an off-reservation home. He wants the Navajo Nation Supreme Court to resolve the issue.
