Calif. tribe disputes presence of track

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 11, 2002

A California tribe has voted to shut down a motorcross racing track built on its reservation but the company involved said the action doesn't mean anything.

The Soboba Band of Luiseno Indians denies granting permission to the operators of Competition Park. Chairman Robert Salgado said part of the track is on tribal land.

But the track owners say the facility is built on land allotted to Ernie Salgado, a tribal member who happens to be Robert's brother.
