Shinnecock tribal members win court case
THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 12, 2002 Three members of the Shinnecock Nation of New York were cleared of state charges after being arrested during a protest over ancestral land. A jury found Gordell Wright, a council member, and Rebecca Genia not guilty of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. A judge threw out charges against Herman Quinn. The Shinnecock Nation is state recognized and has a reservation on Long Island. Get the Story:
