Kan. Indian statue dedicated

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 5, 2002

Five tribes helped dedicate the Indian statue appearing on top of the Kansas Statehouse on Monday.

The 22-foot statue is called "Ad Astra." It is supposed to represent a Kansa, or Kaw, man.

The state's four tribes, and the Kaw Nation of Oklahoma, participated in the ceremony.
