FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 22, 2002

A state program in Wisconsin that tries to help low income pregnant women quit smoking is expanding.

First Breath started two years at six sites. Earlier this year, tribal clinics and other facilities were added. Starting in January, the program will go statewide.

The program, which has helped more than 300 women, has a 34 percent success rate and another 38 percent reduce their tobacco usage, the Associated Press reported.
