S.D. considers purchase of historic site

MONDAY, DECEMBER 9, 2002

The South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks Commission will decide this week whether to purchase a 250-acre historic Indian site, The Sioux Falls Argus Leader reports.

Known as Blood Run, the site is threatened by a housing development. The current owners want to sell to the state for $2 million, a cost that would be shared among federal, state and other sources.

Blood Run dates back a few thousand years and was most recently occupied a few centuries ago.
