Ore. mayor meets with tribe on stadium deal

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 28, 2003

The Confederated Grand Ronde Tribes of Oregon are offering to pay for a baseball stadium in Portland in exchange for an off-reservation casino.

Grand Ronde Chairwoman Cheryle Kennedy and Portland Mayor Vera Katz met yesterday to discuss the idea. The tribe currently operates one casino on trust land.
