Babbitt law firm hired for Calif. casino study
THURSDAY, MAY 1, 2003 The city of Richmond will pay $100,000 to the law firm of Latham and Watkins to study a casino proposed by the Scotts Valley Band of Pomo Indians. The firm employs former Interior secretary Bruce Babbitt although a subsidiary will actually do the work. Some questioned whether the study is needed because they said the Bush administration would never approve the tribe's off-reservation proposal. Get the Story:
