N.M. gaming board gets new Indian liaison

Michael R. Gallegos has been named to the New Mexico Gaming Control Board to work with tribal casinos.

Gallegos replaces Rafael Gutierrez, who resigned after The Albuquerque Journal reported that he failed to disclose ties to gaming manufacturers. Gutierrez was an executive for a company whose president was indicted for supplying machines to a California tribe that was operating an illegal casino.

Gutierrez, a a former president of the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center, also worked for a company that was fined by the Gaming Control Board.
