ANSCA corporations took in $2.7B in 2001n

The 12 Alaska Native regional corporations took in $2.7 billion in revenues in 2001, up from $2.3 billion the year before, according to a recent report from the Association of ANCSA Regional Corporation Presidents/CEOs.

Two corporations were responsible for most of the revenues. Arctic Slope Regional Corp. earned about $1 billion in 2001 while Cook Inlet Region Inc. took in $711 million.

The corporations were created in 1971 by the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act. They are not federally-recognized tribes.
