Column: Oneida clinic possible through gaming
TUESDAY, JUNE 10, 2003 "Not all that long ago, a facility such as the Oneida Community Health Center would have been inconceivable.But today it is a reality. Encompassing more than 65,000 square feet, the state-of-the-art center offers a full range of outpatient services to members of the Oneida Tribe of Indians as well as thousands of other eligible clients.So it makes sense that at a grand opening ceremony last week, hundreds of people were on hand to share in a moment of pride with the Oneida Nation.The facility has been in service since November, but Friday’s ceremony gave the Oneidas an opportunity to show off the new center — the largest Indian health-care facility in Wisconsin.As Business Committee member Vince Delarosa told the gathering, the center answers the question, “So what are the Oneida doing with their gaming dollars?’" Get the Story:
