Grim sails through Senate confirmation hearing
THURSDAY, JUNE 12, 2003
The Senate Indian Affairs Committee held a hearing on Wednesday for the confirmation of Dr. Charles Grim as the director of the Indian Health Service.
The 2004 budget allocation for IHS is $3.3 billion. Grim was asked how much would be needed to address the needs of Indian Country.
Citing two studies, he said anywhere from an extra $1 billion to $15 billion would be needed.
