One animal shelter on reservation to close

THURSDAY, JUNE 19, 2003

An animal shelter on the Navajo Reservation in Shiprock, New Mexico, will close this week, The Farmington Daily Times reports.

The shelter's only animal control officer is taking another job, leaving the center without an experienced staff. The tribe has yet to advertise for the vacancy.

The shelter is one of five on the reservation.
