Study looks at birth rates for Zuni, Navajo women
MONDAY, JUNE 23, 2003 A study published in the Annals of Family Medicine shows a low rate of Caesarean sections among Zuni and Navajo women in New Mexico. The national rate for C-sections is 20.7 percent. But the rate for Zuni and Navajo women was only 7.3 percent over a four-year period. Some doctors believe C-section are a largely unnecessary procedure. The invasive surgery carries risks for complications and has longer recovery times than regular births. Get the Story:
