Little Shell Tribe to hold new election
TUESDAY, JUNE 24, 2003 The Little Shell Tribe of Montana will hold a new election to resolve a dispute over the tribe's leadership. Two factions of the tribe claimed control. The dispute led to a state Supreme Court case that affirmed the tribe's sovereign status. The tribe is awaiting a final decision on its federal recognition from the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
