Gila River Tribe signs water settlement with city

FRIDAY, JULY 18, 2003

The Gila River Indian Community signed a water sharing agreement with the city of Phoenix.

The city will lease about 4.9 billion gallons of water from the tribe.

The deal needs Congressional approval.
