Calif. tribe seeks to reclaim cultural site

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 9, 2003

The San Manuel Band of Mission Indians of California is in talks to buy a historic hotel property that has cultural significance.

The Arrowhead Springs Hotel site is located on a tribal village. The tribe is competing with at least two other buyers for the $100 million property.

If the tribe purchases the site, it would ask the Bureau of Indian Affairs to hold it in trust.
