Films accepted in Sundance Native Forum

The following is a list of films accepted into the Sundance 2001 Native Forum.

"Abandoned Houses on the Reservation," a Canadian short film about domestic violence. Director: Darlene Naponese.

"Alcatraz Is Not an Island," a documentary about the occupation of Alcatraz Island by American Indian activists in 1969-71. Contains previously unseen footage. Director: James M. Fortier.

"Chiapas Media Project," featuring the stories of Mayan Indians in Chiapas, Mexico. Director: Alex Halkin.

"Christmas in the Clouds," a romantic comedy about a tribally owned ski lodge in Utah. Director: Catherine "Kate" Montgomery

"The Flip Side," a dramatic feature about the Filipino-American community. Director: Rod Pulido.

"Moko," a documentary short from New Zealand about the first modern Maori man to revive the traditional art of moko, or full-face tattooing. Director: Jillian White.

"Rocks at Whiskey Trench," a feature documentary from Canada about the Mohawk resistance at Oka. Director: Alanis Obom Sawin.

"Someplace Better," a dramatic short from Canada about a Cree community in the Northwest Territories. Director: Dennis Allen

"Tracks in the Snow," a documentary short about a Cree Indians who make an interesting journey. Director: Shirley Cheechoo

"Voices of the Sierra Tarahumana." Directors: Robert Brewster and Felix Gehm.
