Money sought for Navajo memorial
FEBRUARY 6, 2001 A New Mexico state lawmaker wants the state to contribute $1.5 million to help finish the Bosque Redondo Memorial to recognize the forced relocation of Navajos and Apaches in the 1860s. Congress approved $2 million for a memorial but it is expected to cost $4.5 million. If the state does not match the federal funds, it will lose them by October 2003. Get the Story:
