Pequot Tribe hosts language conference

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 20, 2002

The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation is hosting a conference on Algonquian languages starting this Friday.

Called "Revitalizing the Algonquian Languages," the two-day conference features several linguists who have worked with languages of tribes in New England. The Pequot language itself hasn't been spoken on a regular basis among tribal members for decades.

The conference will be held at the tribe's museum.
