Native history in Alaska complex

MONDAY, APRIL 8, 2002

The Alaska Anthropological Association recently held its annual meeting, featuring more than 100 reports about Alaska Native history.

One report documented a large Native village that thrived on the Bering Sea for more than 1,000 years. With an estimated population of as many as 1,000, the village contained as least 250 houses.

Other reports Native views towards animals and heritage and tools use among Native communities.
