Idaho tribe extends field burning
THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 27, 2001 The Coeur d'Alene Tribe of Idaho extended a field burning period for two more weeks Wednesday, a day before burning was supposed to stop. A tribal spokesperson said the extension was made because more acreage needed to be burned. Kentucky blue grass farmers say burning is needed to stimulate crop production. A group of physicians, however, says the practice is unhealthy. The tribe is holding a public meeting today on a natural, environmental and cultural resources management plan. Get the Story:
