Drilling put off on sacred site

Representatives of several tribes and an energy company are closer to finding a resolution to drilling at a Montana site considered sacred.

Bill Miller, vice president of Anschutz Exploration Corp., said his company will put off drilling in the 4,200-acre Valley of the Chiefs for another three months. The company had been allowed permission to drill test wells to the objection of tribes who use the area for ceremonial purposes.

The valley is also home to historic rock art.
