Nationwide logging ban pushed

TUESDAY, APRIL 16, 2002

A group of scientists has asked President Bush to halt all logging on federally owned forests.

The group of 221 scientists wrote a letter to urge the ban. They cited damage to the environment but the timber industry said logging actually helps keep forests in check.
