Elders usher in historic case

After 10 years of pre-trial hearings, the landmark $1.4 billion Samson First Nation case against the federal government opened Monday as Cree elder Margaret Quinney raised an eagle feather and asked for a fair settlement. John Ermineskin also asked that Federal Court Justice Max Teitelbaum receive guidance.

A lengthy opening statement was made by Samson council James O'Reilly.
