Reject soda pop, says Wyo. school panel

Echoing concerns raised by Alaska Native health groups, a review commitee in Wyoming has recommended the Natrona County School District stop selling soda pop to children.

Although the sales earn the district $20,000 to $30,000 a year, increased intake of soda is unhealty, said a review committee. Sell healthier juices instead, said the panel.

According to a 1997 study, teen-age boys consume 878 cans of soda pop per year on average and teen-age girls consume 658 cans.
