Bush seeks to reimpose abortion aid ban

The House today will vote on a budget bill which overturns a Bush-ordered ban on providing abortion aid to international groups.

Three days into his office, President Bush had ordered US aid to such groups cut. But the House International Relations Committee overrode it when they voted favorably on the State Department's fiscal year 2002 budget proposal.

The White House is threatening to veto the bill unless it includes the ban.
