Day care tied to SIDS
AUGUST 8, 2000
A new research study conducted says that 20 percent of
Sudden Infant Death Syndome (SIDS) cases in 11 states occured
in day care.
Infants are most vulnerable at 2 to
5 months old, often when a mother
returns to work, says the chairman of
the American Academy
of Pediatrics SIDS task force.
In 1997, American Indian children had the highest SIDS mortality rate of
any ethnic group in the US.
