Tribal dispute leaves seven dead

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 21, 2001

A dispute between two neighboring tribes in western Columbia has resulted in seven dead and others injured, officials confirmed on Thursday.

Members of the Guambiano Tribe, which suffered the casualties, raided lands occupied by the Paez Tribe. The raid occurred on Wednesday and the Paez Tribe fought back with weapons.

Guambiano tribal members yesterday also attacked Paez tribal offices and homes.
